Salla bills itself as being 'in the middle of nowhere,' and the resort's east flank backs that up with quiet gladed tree skiing. Accessed from the upper chair, it offers 220 m of vertical with very low skier traffic. It is an unhurried place to ski powder among the trees.
The gladed east flank is reached from the upper chair, dropping 220 m through the trees. The snowpack is dry and consistently deep thanks to the inland-arctic climate. The adjacent Salla National Park, established in 2022, is touring terrain only.
The resort runs guided off-piste days in February and March that include the wooded zones outside the marked runs, a good way to learn the terrain. Traffic is low, so travel prepared even close to the lifts. February to April is the window.
