Outside the Pyhä resort boundary, the national park's 35 km fell chain runs from Noitatunturi via Isokuru, the deepest gorge in Finland at 220 m, to Ukko-Luosto. It offers ridge touring on packed snow with short tree-skiing descents. The gorge is the scenic centrepiece of the tour.
The marked summer trail serves as a useful winter line of travel, though it is not maintained. Tykky-laden spruces make navigation slower than the map suggests. Day tours from the Pyhä or Luosto sides are common, while the full traverse takes 2 days with one hut night.
Because the route is unmaintained in winter, navigation skills matter more than the modest terrain implies. The February-to-April window is reliable for snow. Pack for the slow going through rime-loaded forest and plan hut nights ahead.
