The Hetta–Pallas route is one of Finland's oldest marked trails, dating to the 1930s, and in winter it becomes a 55 km ski traverse over the Pallas fell chain. Running between Enontekiö and Muonio, it crosses Sioskuru, Pyhäkero and the Pallas fells. It is the country's classic multi-day ski tour.
From Hetta the route begins by crossing Lake Ounasjärvi on the ice, then runs 3–4 days through the Sioskuru, Pahakuru and Hannukuru reservation huts to Pallastunturi. Snow depth is reliable into mid-April. The line links open saddles with sheltered hut stops.
Whiteouts on the open saddles between Pyhäkero and Lehmäkero require GPS navigation: visibility can vanish fast on the exposed sections. Reservation huts must be booked in advance through Metsähallitus. This is an advanced traverse best run March to April.
