Between Levi and Pallas sit two quiet day-tour fells: Aakenustunturi (570 m) on the Kittilä side and Olostunturi (520 m) above Muonio. Both see only a fraction of the Pallas traffic, making them a calm alternative for a single-day skin. They reward the tourer who wants space.
Each fell gives 200–300 m of vertical on open shoulders with sparse pine forest below the treeline. Olos has a small lift on its south side, but tourers typically skin the north and east aspects. Trailheads are plowed for easy access.
Marked winter routes are limited, so bring a map and a navigation plan. The terrain is moderate but the low traffic means fewer eyes if something goes wrong. Travel prepared. March to April is the prime window.
