These eleven hills sit within roughly 250 km of Helsinki, and they exist for short, frequent visits rather than week-long trips. Verticals run from 50 to 130 metres, every slope is floodlit, and most of the season rests on snowmaking rather than natural cover. Sappee is the largest, with chairlift access and separate beginner, family and park sectors; Messilä has the longest fall line in the south.
Choose by what the afternoon is for. Talma, Vihti Ski and Mielakka are park hills first. Sveitsi, Serena and Peuramaa are where the capital region teaches its children to ski. Messilä, Ellivuori and Sappee are the ones worth an overnight, because each has lodging at the foot of the slopes and cross-country tracks alongside.
